FAQ: Will the FiberCELL raster engrave or mark metal?

The FiberCELL is equipped with lasers sources of 1-3kW’s (kilowatts) and has been optimized for cutting operations only. The raster engraving mode is disabled in KCAM as part of the setup process.

It is possible to lightly vector mark into some metals leaving a contrasting line. This process could be used to “kiss cut” a part number into the surface of a metal part. However,  it may be  a difficult controlling the power output of these higher wattage lasers resulting in excessive burning or damage to the surface of the metal part. The image below shows a mild steel part that has been vector etched with two different power settings.
