FAQ: How much laser power do I need for my application?

Kern’s laser systems can be configured with CO2 lasers from 100 to 650 watts and fiber lasers from 1-3 kW’s. The amount of power needed depends on how you wish to utilize the machine. For example, if your primary application is cutting textiles but you also want to cut aluminum tags, then a higher wattage laser will be required than if you were only needing to cut a thin fabric. Kern has put together processing charts for our CO2 and fiber laser systems to help determine the best laser wattage for your application.
