FAQ: Is switching from metal to plastic cutting difficult?
Transitioning from metal to plastic cutting is a straightforward procedure. Initially, the sensor wire used for metal cutting is detached along with the airline, using a push fitting. Following this, the V-FOCUS lens assembly is removed and substituted with the S-FOCUS head. The airline is then reconnected via the push fitting. This part of the process usually takes around 30 seconds.
Additional modifications include changing the metal cutting slat bed to one suitable for plastic cutting, with the required time varying based on bed size. This can range from 30 seconds to several minutes for larger beds. The use of Kern’s Versa-Tray system can significantly streamline this process, as its smaller bed trays can be handled by one person, reducing both time and labor.
On average, the entire process of switching from metal to plastic cutting takes about 2-3 minutes.
