Signage & Display
COMMERCIAL SIGNAGE
Laser cut signs can be found just about everywhere, including schools, museums, commercial buildings and store fronts. There are many different sign making techniques used and Kern’s laser system can improve the manufacturing process. LED etched, channel letters, inlays and paint backfilled are just a few of the signs Kern’s lasers have helped create over the years.
WATER FEATURES
Many different types of water features can be manufactured utilizing a Kern Laser System. The photos below show how glass panels can be etched and metal sheets can be fabricated to create two different types of water features.
POINT OF PURCHASE DISPLAYS
Point-of-purchase displays are built by cutting holes, notches and slots into various materials to hold lipstick, eyeglasses and other merchandise. Acrylic can be cut with a flame polished edge quality that is aesthetically pleasing.
MOBILE PHONE HOLDER
Shown below is an iPhone® holder cut with Kern’s 150W laser system. The cast acrylic was cut with settings to leave a fire polished edge quality. An acrylic bending machine was then used to shape the holder.
LED LIGHTING PANELS
Acrylic sheets can be laser etched with frosty white lines, text and images on the surface of the panel. The ultra-small design of the LED lights allows for them to be placed in long rows and snapped onto the edge of thin plastic sheets. When turned ON, the light will catch in the laser etched portions of the panel allowing for large areas to illuminate all at once.
DONATION AND FUNDRAISING BOARDS
Public building projects often take advantage of fundraising as a way to secure construction funds. Appreciation for this support is often shown through a donation board at the entry of the newly constructed building. Kern’s lasers can engrave donor names and cut the final board to shape.

Benefits to using a Laser System
Cut Optimizer. Decrease your programming time by letting KCAM automatically determine the fastest cut order for your most complicated designs.
Time Estimator. Provide accurate pricing to your customers by knowing the amount of laser processing time before the product even makes it to the laser bed.
Tool Offset. A simple inside/outside offset can be set to compensate for the laser beam kerf. This results in precisely sized parts without modification of your original part drawings.
Customized Pierce Settings. The dwell time, laser power, frequency, focus point and air flow can be set independently from your normal cut settings. This feature ensures metals are cut clean with minimal to no dross.
Air Control. Compressed shop air, oxygen or nitrogen can be hooked up to the laser system for optimal processing results on a variety of laserable materials.
Vector Path Speed Control. KCAM mimics a race car by slowing the cutting speed into sharp corners and accelerating out of them. The result is smooth, consistent cutting with the tap of your mouse.
Laser Printer Driver. An easy to use Laser Printer Driver links KCAM to commonly used design software such as CorelDRAW® and AutoCAD LT®.
Vision Registration System. K-Vision is a fully integrated hardware and software solution that turns your laser cutting table into an advanced digital finishing system.
G-CODE capable. Are you used to programming with GCODES ? No problem! KCAM’s built in GCODE converter allows you to continue working with your preferred CAM software to generate .NC files that are loaded directly into KCAM.
